"During the annual meeting of the Thematic Network "Research for Rare Diseases and Personalised Medicine" in July 2016, I met Prof. Raz Somech from Sheba Hospital in Tel Aviv for the first time. At the meeting he gave a talk about his work in Israel and his concept of working from bed to bench and back again, which fascinated me a lot. Therefore I applied for an internship in his department and his lab for a period of two months, to get an insight into his work. Luckily I also got a scholarship from the DAAD ten for rare foundation, which supported me and made my stay more comfortable. During my internship Prof. Somech gave me an overall insight into the different parts of his work. On one hand he sowed me his work in his department and in his outpatient clinic and on the other hand his lab where he and his team combine diagnostic work with research."
