About "Academy":
Young researchers receiving support can further their education by attending specially organised summer schools, workshops and guest lectures in the hope that they will learn that a new, genomic view of medicine can influence how doctors behave. Taking part in international events has a special value for young doctors and researchers and their attendance promotes this new view of medicine. The crucial, strategic goal of the thematic DAAD network “Research for Rare Diseases and Personalised Medicine” is to impart a molecular view of medicine to young doctors and researchers from all over the world. Using the example of patients with rare diseases the network hopes to show that disadvantaged patient groups have cause to hope for a cure thanks to cross-border, interdisciplinary scientific collaborations.
