„Through the ten-for-rare network I was given the unique opportunity to be part of a research program of international standards at Chulalongkorn University Hospital, Bangkok. During my three months under the supervision of Prof. Kanya Suphapeetiporn, I received detailed insights in both clinical practice and laboratory work. As a MD student it was thrilling to witness the interaction of both areas.Through the work in the overlapping fields of pediatric neurology and genetics I experienced what interprofessional collaboration can achieve. On top of that we were able to launch a cooperational project between Dr. von Haunersches Kinderspital and Chulalongkorn University resulting in a joint paper of both partner institutions. During my work on ATP1A3 related disorders I experienced both benefits and challenges of international collaboration. I am very grateful to the DAAD for supporting me in my scientific steps through the research scholarship.“
